It is a Statutory requirement of Employers that they are legally obliged to consult with Employees on matters pertaining to Health & Safety in the work place. This requirement involves the facilitation of the appointment of an employee to the role of “Safety Representative” who would in turn consult with management on safety issues at work. The Employer is required to ensure that the Safety Representatives receives appropriate training in order for to carry out the role. ASTC Ltd course objectives are contained below.

Course participants will receive the training on the following:

• Legislation- participants will understand clearly both the role and rights of the Safety Representative in the workplace, including the limitations of same.
• Understand the relevant sections of the Safety Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 & associated Regs.
• Understand the basic principles of Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (Workshop on same)
• Understand the importance of Accident & Near Miss investigation & the reporting of same in order to prevent re-occurrence.
• Setting up a Safety Committee.
• How to set up Action Plans for eliminating Safety Issues & Tracking Progress on same.
• Course will have practical workshops on Risk Assessment, Accident/Near Miss Investigation Reports & Safety Committee Meetings (incl. format, minutes & action plans).
